Geordie,

Geordie Armstrong,

Geordie Armstrong on the wing

When I first started going to Highbury Geordie was the number 7 and he is the reason why ever since I've always worn the number 7 shirt for most teams that I have played for, and the reason why I became a winger. He was a great player with a great attitude, you could say his attitude was the opposite of Anelka!

Can't add anything but to say that the minutes silence was very moving indeed.

Impeccably observed by home and away fans.

I think I know what Tony Winyard meant when mentioning the 'Stand up if you hate...' song Tonight wasn't the night for that.

As a young lad, I had the great pleasure of watching every Arsenal home game in the double-winning season of 70-1. In my humble opinion, Arsenal would not have won the double that year without the dazzling exploits of George Armstrong who was the creator of so many of the goals scored by Radford and Kennedy that year. I am absolutely choked that one of the sports true gents and unsung heroes has been taken from at such a young age. I will never forget George Armstrong, his skill, speed and wonderful crossing ability made him such a treat to watch. I feel deeply for his family who must be absolutely shattered now. R.I.P George.

It is great to hear all the tributes to George and how highly he was respected. I have to say I'm not old enough to remember him playing but saw him playing in some great old videos. The tributes certainly gave me a feel for the man. I think it would be lovely if George's familly could see all these tributes, I sure it would be comforting to know how much he was loved. May he rest in Peace, Tom

My mate is a staunch Leeds fan and he is deeply sad at Geordie's passing. As he says "A lovely bloke who achieved more than most of us will ever aspire to". It's times like this when you realise that decent people transcend trivial things like club rivalry. God bless George Armstrong, it's not just Arsenal fans that hold you in high regard.

Deepest condolences to George Armstrong's family and Arsenal Football Club. I've only seen him play in the videos and have been lucky enough to see him manage the reserves quite a number of times last season. A great man, and Arsenal man. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Geordie.
