Sympathy's to Rocky's family ...

what a bloke, I can't believe this could happen. For me he just summed up the late 80's for us and his pinnacle was obviously '88/'89, he epitomised that team for me. Shame he never really achieved so much that was promised due, mainly, to injury.

Very sad news Posted

I was eating my dinner today after watching our mauling at Anfield. Then on Sky Sports, they mentioned that David Rocastle had passed away last night. I was shocked, and deeply saddened. I remember his as a great player with bags of talent, but my abiding memories of him were in the 1991/92 season when I think he scored both goals for Arsenal against United. The 2 league games finished 1-1 that season his goal at OT was a long range effort that hit the bar came out & hit Schmeichels back & went to the net. The one at Highbury was rolled across the box & he stretched to poke it home. I would like to offer my condolances to Arsenal as this was the club he played with most. I'm sure I speak for Manchester United fans the world over in saying "May he rest in peace" and "Thank you David for bringing entertainment to football fans in Britain, Ireland & the world."

but just had to say I was totally shocked by the news. Had the pleasure of meeting the great man in Borneo in 99 and found him to be a genuinely nice guy and a true gooner to boot. My deepest sympathy goes to his family. RIP Rocky.

Don't normally come on at week-ends but can't let today pass without making my own small contribution to the many messages of thanks to Rocky Rocastle for some wonderful memories. It is a joy for us who only saw you play football that we only saw pleasure and not the pain that you and your family have obviously had to go through in the last months. RIP

He definately had the magic, the thing that makes a footballer stand out from the rest. Wherever he goes I'm sure he'll take it with him. It was nice to see a most respectful minutes silence.
